First off, we wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of our band moms out there! This week will be a busy one, as it is the second-to-last week of school.  To begin the week, on Monday, we’ll have our Odem JH Symphonic Winds and Odem HS Bands concert beginning at 6:30 pm. JH Symphonic Winds members should be on stage at 6 pm for warm-up, OHS Symphonic Band members should be in the HS Band hall for warm-up at 5:15 pm, and Wind Ensemble members should be at the HS Band Hall by 6:30 pm. We look forward to these students performing one last time together for the year! 

The next evening, on Tuesday, we’ll have our Odem JH Beginning Band and Concert Band spring concert. Beginning Band students should be on stage for warm-up no later than 5:45 pm, and Concert Band Students need to be in the HS Band Hall by 6:00 pm. For both concerts, concert dress clothes are required. Please see the section below for any questions regarding that.

On Thursday Morning, the Odem HS Wind Ensemble will participate at a local festival at Robstown HS. Our performance will begin at 9:30 am, and we’ll depart the school around 8:15 am. We’ll return before fifth period.  

We then have just a few remaining events for the year. Monday, the 19^th, we’ll host a State Solo and Ensemble Send-Off Recital at 6:00 pm in the HS Cafetorium. All of our students who have advanced to the State Solo and Ensemble contest will perform that evening. The next evening, on the 20th, will be our Booster Meeting, where we will need new officers to fill some roles. 

On the 21^st, we will host a Spring Instrument Rental Night drive for our incoming 6^th graders and anyone looking for a new instrument for their students. Music and the Arts will be running the drive this year and have an offer for a free tuner and beginning book for anyone who attends that evening and signs up for a rental plan. 

After that, we have Graduation on the 23^rd, where we need all Odem JH Symphonic Winds members, and all Odem HS Band members in Grades 9^th-11^th, to be at our rehearsal at 5:00 pm, pre-ceremony concert at 7:30 pm, and graduation at 8:00 pm. That weekend, we depart on Sunday for the State Solo and Ensemble competition, which will be held on Monday morning for our students in Pflugerville.

Concert Attire

All groups from 6^th-12^th have moved to the same concert attire requirements this year. Please see the information below:

Ladies: Black Blouse/Black Slacks/Dress Shoes (Blouses need to have some sort of sleeve that extends past the shoulder and should not be low cut)

Gentlemen: Black Long Sleeve Button-Down Shirt, Black Slacks, Black Dress Shoes (or HS Marching Band Shoes), Black Belt, and Black Socks.

Spring Band Fees

Spring Band Fees are now past due at both the High School for all band students and at the JH for 7^th/8^th grade band Students. This fee, $25/student, helps offset expenses in the spring for the program. Checks or money Orders should be made payable to OEISD—no cash, please! Statements will be emailed again today about outstanding fees. Please contact us about any questions or concerns.

2026 Florida Trip

For all trip participants for 2026, please ensure you have registered on the Bob Rogers Travel site. Current 8th-11th-grade band students are eligible to travel on this trip, and we can still add students.

Payment options and forms are handled through their website. I encourage students to attend this trip; it will be a fantastic experience for them, and it is only really possible for most of them as a group like this!
