Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/13/2019
We are in the home stretch here for the Odem Bands, with our final concert of the year tomorrow night featuring the Screeching Owl Jazz Band and a special Alumni Jazz Band! Tomorrow night we celebrate the 10th Anniversary Spring Evening of Jazz and look forward to a fun evening! Dessert and refreshments will be provided to audience members who attend the concert that begins at 7pm.
Owl Band Booster Meeting (Elections)
Tuesday evening we will hold our monthly Owl Band Booster Meeting. We are in need of four new officers for this coming year – it is imperative that we have parents to fill these roles! If you have a student in either Junior High or High School please come to this meeting and help out by serving in a role with the group! We need parents in order to ensure the future success of that organization and your students opportunities! The meeting begins at 7pm – please come and attend!
Drum Major and Color Guard Audition Results
Last week we held auditions for the 2019 Spirit of OHS Drum Majors and Color Guard. We would like to congratulate Abaigeal Tovar, Ethan Sanchez, and Isabella Duncan who will be our 2019 Spirit of OHS Drum Majors! Guard Captain Miranda Martinez, Lieutenant Alexandria Paiz, and Guard Members: Lauren Andrade, Mia Aviles, Haley DeLeon, Diamond Gomez, Miranda Martinez, Madysin Moreno, Annaid Olvera, Alexandria Paiz, Yolanda Salas, Alexia Rodriguez, and Ilysia Rodriguez. Congratulations to all of these members!
We will be measuring for uniforms for Guard on Thursday after school, if for some reason a member cannot attend please contact Mr. Rash or Ms. Wicks before that day to make other arrangements!
Marching Band/Athletic Physicals
On Thursday beginning at 2:30pm the Athletic Department will be hosting physicals for students. UIL has mandated that Marching Band Students now receive physicals prior to participation in outdoor activities. The new policy takes effect August 1st when all students must have one completed on the same biannual basis as Athletics. If a student has completed their physical this year with Athletics as a Freshman or Junior we will be able to count that towards this coming year. Students must have $15 cash and have this form pre-filled out by parents/guardians with the medical history. Students only need to complete one physical if they are in Athletics and Band, it is not necessary to complete a separate one.
Drumline Auditions and Leadership Training
Tuesday after school we will hold drumline auditions for the 2019 Spirit of OHS beginning at 4pm. We will hold a Leadership Training Session on Wednesday after school as well leading to our Section Leader selections to be made at the end of this week.
