Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/16/2022
We’d like to begin this week by congratulating the Odem JH Symphonic Winds on an outstanding performance Friday at their festival! They earned Superior Ratings from each of the three judges with their performance!
This week brings us to the final end of the year wind down of events for the bands. We have a busy few weeks though! Tomorrow (Monday) we have the Odem JH Symphonic Winds and Odem HS Bands Spring Concerts beginning at 6:30pm in the Odem HS Cafetorium. Tuesday will be the Odem JH Beginning Band and Concert Band spring concert also beginning at 6:30pm in the OHS Cafetorium. Please note these are mandatory and graded events for students to be there! Please see the concert section below for the call times for students to arrive!
Once concerts are concluded we begin working on preparing for Graduation on May 27th. (Required for 9th-11th Graders, and highly encouraged for OJH Symphonic Winds members) State Solo and Ensemble students will depart on the 29th to Pflugerville for their events on the 30th. We will return late that evening – hopefully more information will be available this week on our times. Then that Wednesday we’re departing for Florida. There have been some updates to that itinerary that I will be sharing later this week in regards to departure times.
That’s a lot of things coming up in a short while, but that will wrap up our 2021-2022 year and we’ll begin our start on the 2022 Fall season! Guard/Drum Major/Leadership Camp students will be going up to TAMU-Commerce June 19th-23rd. We need Drum Major and Leadership team members fees for that camp by Wednesday please. If there are issues with needing more time please contact me before then.
Speaking of those members, I would like to first congratulate Emma Doria, Lillan Kiefer, and Adrian Aguirre on being selected as the drum majors for The Spirit of OHS for next season! Aria Bray, Claudia Covarrubias, Jadelynn Hall, Javier Martinez, Annaid Olvera, Lexi Rodriguez, Miya Santellana, Vanessa Sauceda, and Samantha Sharpe were selected as guard members for next year. Guard Co-Captains are Javier Martinez and Annaid Olvera.
Concert Information
Monday is the Odem JH Symphonic Winds and HS Bands Spring Concert beginning at 6:30pm. Students need to be dressed in their Concert Black clothes for this event! Tuesday will be the Odem JH Beginning Band and Concert Band concert beginning at 6:30pm as well. Please see the call times and reminder of concert attire below:
Monday – Concert Begins at 6:30pm
Odem JH Symphonic Winds – On Stage at 5:45pm
Odem HS Symphonic Band – In Band Hall at 6:15pm
Odem HS Wind Ensemble – Outside Band Hall no later than 6:40pm
The Order of the Concert is JH Symphonic Winds, HS Symphonic Band, HS Wind Ensemble, HS Full Band, and concludes with our mass Wind Symphony of all of the students from the concert together.
Tuesday – Concert Begins at 6:30pm
Odem JH Beginning Band – On Stage at 5:45pm
Odem JH Concert Band – In Band Hall by 6:10pm
The Order of the Concert is JH Beginning Band and then the JH Concert Band.
Concert Attire for Students:
Odem JH:
Ladies: Black Blouse and Black Slacks with black shoes.
Gentlemen: White Button-Down Shirt, Black Slacks, Black Dress Shoes, Black Socks, Black Belt, and a tie (Preferably navy blue)
Odem HS:
Black Blouse/Button Down Shirt, Black Slacks, and Black shoes.
Please note that every student MUST attend their Spring Concert performance. It is a major grade for both the six weeks and part of their Semester Exams/Projects!
2022 Summer Band Schedule
You may find our 2022 Summer Band Schedule linked below, as well as listed our major competition dates for the fall at the bottom. Please note that Summer Band is mandatory for participation in The Spirit of OHS! If a conflict arises with a date we ask that you reach out to us early so we can be aware, and maybe make something work out to make multiple things happen. We try and be as flexible as possible on many things, but with marching band it is important to have every spot on the field covered. (Any missing members in drill can result in deductions for us as a band at contests!)
Please help us make sure students have the best possibility of being successful this next year!
