Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/19/2025

We begin this final week by expressing our appreciation to all who attended our Spring Concerts last week. They were a great way to finish off the year for most of the groups, and we’re proud of the growth all the students have shown throughout the year. As our seniors graduate this week, we wish them congratulations and the best of luck in their futures! We have just three events remaining now for this school year, plus something nearly every day this week. Please read below for more information!

Monday:
First, the students who qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest will have a send-off recital tomorrow at the high school cafetorium, beginning at 6:00 p.m. We have eleven exceptional soloists and two ensembles who have advanced! We hope you’ll come support them and see what they’ve been working towards!

Tuesday:
Tuesday night is a big night for us with our Band Booster Meeting. We are in need of a few people to fill officer roles for the upcoming school year. Please consider volunteering to help this organization! We can’t begin to state the many ways they help all of our students in the band program throughout the year! We would not have anywhere near the experiences or successes in our program without the boosters!

Wednesday:
We will host a Spring Instrument Rental Night drive for our incoming 6th graders and anyone looking for a new instrument for their students. Music and the Arts will be running the drive this year and have an offer for a free tuner and beginning book for anyone who attends that evening and signs up for a rental plan.

Friday:
On Friday, all JH Symphonic Winds and 9th-11th Grade HS Band members will participate in our annual performance at Graduation. Students need to be at the Band Hall by 5:00 p.m. for a rehearsal. Then, we’ll move the equipment and have pizza for those students. They’ll need to be in their seats by 7:20 pm so we can begin our pre-ceremony music. After the ceremony, we need help taking everything back to the HS Band Hall. Students should dress nicely on this evening, no shorts or jeans please, slacks/button down shirts for guys, dresses and skirts are fine for ladies, but attire should still be school-appropriate, please!

Sunday-Monday:
Lastly, this school year, we’ll have our State Solo and Ensemble trip. We will need students at the Band Hall on Sunday at noon for a 12:15 p.m. departure. That night, we’ll check into the hotel, and we have a theater reserved exclusively for our students at Alamo Drafthouse. We will provide a per diem from the school for each student, but we encourage students to bring money for food and snacks to the theater. The next morning, we’ll eat breakfast at the hotel and travel to the contest site at Hendrickson HS in Pflugerville. I’ll post the updated times and room numbers again later this week.

As with all UIL events, the State Solo and Ensemble contest is open to the public! If your family or friends wish to attend and see students’ performances, that is absolutely allowed. There is no charge for admission. If you plan to pick up students at the site, we kindly request that you send a copy of the travel waiver pickup form in advance to ensure a more efficient process on the day.

As you can see, it’s going to be a hectic last week for us! Please let us know if you have any questions!

2026 Florida Trip

For all trip participants for 2026, please ensure you have registered on the Bob Rogers Travel site. Current 8th-11th-grade band students are eligible to travel on this trip, and we can still add students.

If you missed the meeting, you may find a copy of the packet here: https://tinyurl.com/msrnkua6 . Registration is still open on their site: https://bobrogerstravel.grcoll.co/v2/go/odem26

Payment options and forms are handled through their website. I encourage students to attend this trip; it will be a fantastic experience for them, and it is only really possible for most of them as a group like this!
