Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/20/2024
It seems like just yesterday I was writing the first of these emails with the days of school starting for everyone! Today we find ourselves at the final week of the school year, even though we do have a number of events still on the calendar for the Odem Bands. The biggest this week will be graduation on Friday. Odem HS 9th-11th Grade students, and Odem JH Symphonic Winds students should be at the HS Band Hall at 5pm on Friday. We’ll rehearse together, then move our equipment outside to the stadium. Following that we’ll have pizza for all of our students before we begin performing a pre-ceremony concert at about 7:20 pm.
6th Grade students and JH Concert Band should have personal instruments taken home at this time. School instruments may be checked out for the summer, a summer checkout form must be completed and given to Mr. Williams or Mr. Rash before it goes home though.
We’ll have UIL State Solo and Ensemble then on Sunday through Monday. Students need to be at the High School by 10:30 am so we can make it to UT Austin where we’ll be rehearsing our soloists with their accompanists that day. We’ll go check into our hotel when we’re through there, then be taking the evening to hang out at Main Event. Students begin their performances in the morning the next day at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. (Please see the section below for times/rooms)
After that we’ll be focusing in on our trip preparations next Wednesday through Friday. Please make sure if you have a student on that trip, and did not attend a meeting this past week, that you make plans to meet with me this week before Thursday. Every student and a parent/guardian must meet with me prior to the trip!
Also, for our Cleveland trip, if you know of anyone who is in the Cleveland area who would like to purchase tickets, they may purchase them at https://www.clevelandorchestra.com/connections (Box seats are available, but only with a call to the box office. 216-231-1111
We will have our Send-Off Concert on Monday, June 3rd at the HS Cafetorium. We hope you’ll come out to support the students before we head off to Cleveland!

I plan to take any flute players who are interested up to participate! I need those registration forms this week!

If you wish to pick up your student please make sure to fill out one of the alternative transportation forms. They are available in the Band Hall and also on www.odembands.org .
