Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/21/2018
While the school year is officially over for most of our students, we do have several events still coming up this week. First up is the Schlitterbahn trip tomorrow, Graduation on Friday, and the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest Sunday-Monday. Please read below for information on those events. Please note we need all high school band members and OJH Symphonic Winds to perform on Friday for graduation!
OJH Band Trip to Schlitterbahn:
Students that are attending the trip tomorrow must be at the OJH Band Hall before 6:45am tomorrow. We will depart for New Braunfels shortly there after. Students should bring money for lunch/and or a snack, as well as dry clothes to change into afterwards. We will exit the park and head to CiCi’s for dinner at the end of the day. Based on the past I would guess we should arrive home around 8pm or so. Please check the Owl Band Boosters page for an update on time of arrival when we know.
Please remember that swimsuits should be ‘Age-Appropriate.’
Graduation:
As mentioned above, all OHS Band Students and OJH Symphonic Winds students need to be at graduation on Friday. We will have a rehearsal at 4pm at the stadium. Students should dress comfortably for that rehearsal as I anticipate it will be warm that afternoon. We will feed the students pizza for dinner then and give them a chance to change clothes. They should be dress nice for the event, no jeans or shorts please. Clothing should meet school dress code requirements. Students need to be in their seats on the field by 7:25pm. This year we are going to play from 7:30pm until graduation begins at 8pm. We will need students to help us take equipment back to the band halls following the ceremony.
UIL State Solo and Ensemble:
We have 16 students from OHS that will be traveling to State Solo and Ensemble this coming weekend in Pflugerville. Please remind those students that they should be practicing this week! The band hall will be available most of the week if students wish to come in and practice. All students must be at the OHS Band Hall by 12:30pm on Sunday. We will cover most of their meals, but students should bring enough money to cover one of those, plus we will be attending a movie in the evening when we arrive. The next morning we will eat breakfast at the hotel before traveling to Hendrickson HS.

We should have students results by noon. We’ll eat lunch and then head home and should be back by 5pm or so.
