Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 5/6/2024
I would like to begin by saying thank you to all who attended Windi and Jazzi: ‘May the Fourth Be With You’ yesterday! We had our largest crowd at this event ever, with 158 tickets sold! Our silent auction and punch board also performed well, so we had a great fundraiser event! We’ll have details and the reports on everything on Tuesday night’s Band Booster Meeting at 6pm in the HS Jazz Room. A huge shoutout goes to Mrs. Mandi Edwards, Mrs. Susan Sharpe, Mrs. Jesenia Ferguson, and the other boosters for all of their work to make the event a success!
We will be holding elections for offices on Tuesday for next year. It’s vitally important that all roles are filled for the Band Boosters to continue to operate in support of our students.
This week sees us rounding the corner to the final part of the school year here. We will be having a HS Wind Ensemble rehearsal after school on Wednesday to prepare for the American Classics Festival they are performing at on Friday. The Odem JH Symphonic Winds and Odem HS Wind Ensemble will both perform Friday. Students should bring their concert clothes to school and will change after lunch. We’ll depart the school at about 1pm, and should return about 4:30pm. Students will be missing bus routes, so please plan accordingly. The performances will begin about 2pm for the OJH Symphonic Winds, and about 3pm for the Odem HS Wind Ensemble. Parents and spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend, the event is Free Admission. These performances are mandatory for all eligible members of those ensembles.
Don’t forget our Spring Concerts are NEXT week. Monday, May 13th is Odem JH Symphonic Winds and Odem HS Bands Concert. Tuesday, May 14th is Odem JH Beginning Band and Concert Band Spring Concert. Both concerts begin at 6:30pm and are Mandatory Graded Performances!
Reminder that there is a mandatory parent and student meeting next Thursday, May 16th at 7pm for all students traveling to Cleveland. We will be going over rules, forms, etc. that night and need the student and one parent/guardian present for each. I understand there is a senior trip that day, we will need to schedule a one-on-one makeup meeting with those students/parents the next week. Also, for our Cleveland trip, if you know of anyone who is in the Cleveland area who would like to purchase tickets, they may purchase them at https://www.clevelandorchestra.com/connections (Box seats are available, but only with a call to the box office. 216-231-1111

I plan to take any flute players who are interested up to participate!
Finally we’d like to congratulate the participants who participated in auditions on Friday. Next year’s drum majors will be Adrian Aguirre, Vince Barrera, and Noah Hirle! Guard Captain will be Samantha Sharpe, and guard members are Aria Bray, Naomi Cruz, Cloe Galvan, Adriana Gutierrez, LeAnn Jimenez, Marilyn Lambert, Kaiya Pena, Veronica Rivera, and Samantha Sharpe.
