Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 7/15/2024
I hope everyone has had a restful set of weeks this summer! The Spirit of OHS begins kicking off Fall 2024 Marching Season practices this week with Leadership, Guard, and Percussion events.
Monday we’re attending the Marching Health Clinic hosted by Flour Bluff HS with Leadership, and volunteer 10th-12th grade students. We still have spots available too! Students should arrive at the HS Band Hall by 7am tomorrow, and bring money for lunch. They should wear comfortable clothes such as their band shirts/shorts from last year that they can move in, have a water jug, and tennis shoes. (For all of marching season please NO CROCS or Flip-Flops. This is a safety/injury prevention concern!)
Tuesday will be leadership only at the HS Band Hall from 9 am-12 pm, 1 pm – 3:30 pm.
Wednesday through Friday will be Guard Camp in the HS Cafetorium/stage, Drumline in Jazz Room, and Front Ensemble in the Main Band Hall. Those rehearsals will be 9 am -12 pm and 1 pm – 4 pm. All members of those units must attend! Additionally, Leadership is needed through those days to help ensure we are prepared for band camp to start NEXT week on July 22nd.
Just as a reminder Physicals by a doctor are required to be completed for each student every other year for Marching Band, just like with Sports. They may be completed and turned into me, or into the Athletic Trainer. We have access to form information via RankOne as needed there for these forms. Additionally, the medical history form (first page of link) must be completed by EVERYONE every year. (It’s information from parent/student) Please send those completed forms with students by the first day of Summer Band next Monday. Again medical physicals by the doctor are good for 2 years, the history form is an annual form. Thanks!
