Odem Bands Schedule Week of 7/25/2016 – Summer Band Begins!

I hope this message finds you well! Summer has flown by, and once again we find ourselves at the beginning of Summer Band Camp! We’ll begin on Monday with sectionals in the morning and have full band rehearsals in the late afternoon, followed by fundamentals in the evening. Please remember that Marching Band Camp is mandatory for all members of The Spirit of OHS.
This Friday we will be repeating our March-A-Thon fundraiser from last year. It was a very successful fundraiser last year and we hope to repeat that. Forms will be given to students Monday morning. Please help us solicit donations/pledges. We would like to see the students raise at least $50/student. We are making it our goal this year to raise funds for this coming marching season (props/student meals/other needs), spring expenditures, and creating a fund balance to help us when we move into the new Band Hall during the 2017-2018 school year. Following the March-A-Thon we will have a party for the band students at the Odem Pool. The March-A-Thon is mandatory for all band students as well.
Monday-Thursday:
Sectionals
9:00am-1:00pm: Trumpets/F Horns Sectional
9:00am-11:00am: Woodwinds/Mallet Percussion/Guard
11:00am-1:00pm: Low Brass/Battery Percussion
2:00pm-2:45pm: Leadership Meeting (Drum Majors, Section Leaders/Captains/Lieutenants)
Afternoon/Evening Rehearsals:
3:00pm-6:00pm: Indoor Music Rehearsal
6:30pm-8:30pm: Outdoor Marching Fundamentals
Friday:
5:00pm: Students at Band Hall for March-A-Thon
6:00pm: March-A-Thon Begins
~8:00pm: Pool Party Begins
We have received our new marching uniforms in the past couple of weeks. We will be working to have our pictures done before the beginning of the new school year – we will get that information out this week. Please keep in mind that we will need the payments for Band Fee 1 of $35 August 4th (Covers Shirt, Gloves, and helps with Flip Folders/Lyres). For any student (Freshman and other students) who need bands shoes we will need their second payment of $40 by August 17th. It is imperative we receive the payments on time so we may have all of our supplies in time for the season to begin. You may pay the full fee at one point if you wish. Checks, Money Orders, or Cashiers checks should be made out to OEISD – Memo Band Fee.
