Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 8/22/2022
It was great to see all of our students back this week! We also appreciate everyone who attended our ‘Meet the Band’ performance on Wednesday night! This week we truly get into the swing of things for our fall and it’s a busy week! First the HS Band students will be switching to our normal fall rehearsal schedule. Monday 6:30pm-8:30pm, Wednesday 4pm-6pm, and Thursday 6:30pm-8:30pm. We have our first football game at Karnes City on Friday!
For the Beginning Band students in particular, but any student who may need an instrument or supplies, Hillje Music will be here for our annual instrument drive night on Wednesday from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the JH Band Hall. All Beginning Band students need to have their instruments taken care of and at school by Wednesday, August 31st. We expect Hillje to deliver instruments about that same time and we’ll begin working with our students with their instruments!
South Texas Music Mart in Corpus can also take care of rentals for students if you wish to go into town. We provided a list of instrument brands to students that we recommend back in the spring. Both companies have repair programs and will be able to fix anything that may break over time. We strongly advise against purchasing online as most instruments from there will be very poor quality.
Also, at that evening if you purchased an instrument through Hillje they have a great Step-Up instrument program where you trade back the student instrument and they move the student up to an intermediate or professional model. They apply previous payments towards the new instrument. This can be a great opportunity for many of our 7th-12th graders potentially! They will also have supply orders they take that night and deliver to the school the following week.
Our fall fees for marching band should have been paid at this time. For all Sophomores-Seniors who have marching shoes that fit the fee is $50. This includes the show shirt, shorts, water jug, and helps pay for other items like flip folders, lyres, etc. Freshmen, or any other member who needs shoes will need to pay an additional $40, for a total of $90 to cover marching shoes as well. This has had to increase from last year due to increased prices on items.
Guard members should have paid a total of $400 by the date they tried out. The final fee for them is $100 as long as they were paid in full. (Full 2023 fee is $500 between the two payments) They do not pay the regular band fall fee.
Odem JH Band students need to turn in their $25.00 fall fee by next Friday!
Payments need to be made in CHECK or MONEY ORDER only please to OEISD Memo: Band. We do not accept cash for these items.
