Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 8/26/2024
Thank you to everyone who attended the Beginning Band Instrument drive at the junior high and Meet the Band this past Wednesday! We are exceptionally proud of the high school students for successfully putting the whole show on the field! This week begins the football season and our continued efforts to prepare the students for a successful marching season with cleaning! We must have students at every rehearsal to fix as many things as possible before our competitions begin.
This week, we will begin our normal rehearsal schedule during the school year, with practices on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday after school from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, we will have our first football game at home versus Ben Bolt HS. (Please note for fans that the district is implementing a clear bag policy at the stadium and gym this year!) Students will wear this year’s show shirt and band shorts for at least the first game or two to be conscious of student safety with higher temperatures. Those should be arriving on Wednesday or Thursday. We will pass them out, along with any additional shirts ordered that day. We will have some extras available for sale once we take care of those students and helpers. I’ll have more information about that next weekend.
Speaking of next weekend, it is a three-day weekend for the school, but we do have a high school rehearsal next Monday evening! Students must be there from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Please note that we’ll need all students to have a parent or adult volunteer to help with the Owl Marching Invitational on September 28th and the UIL Area 2A Marching Contest on November 2nd. Please help us make plans for those! We now have our Sign-Up Genius live for people to sign up for a spot to help! https://tinyurl.com/3vmmu8wz For our invitational, 16 bands have signed up, so we will need every bit of help we can get that day! I anticipate the 2A Area contest will be about the same number of bands as last year, meaning a prelims and finals round is likely.
Fees for both high school and 7th/8th Grade JH Band students are due currently. See the section below for more information on those. If they haven’t been turned in, please contact us so we know when to expect them. We’ll work with financial difficulties, and we can work to figure out a payment plan in those instances. We need to bring in the missing fees as soon as possible to order all the supplies for the students!

Please Note: HS Band Members who still owe fees have been given statements about them, please help us get those turned in as soon as possible. We have about $2,600 still outstanding from these fees!
$80 for All Returning Marchers Except Guard who don’t need shoes.
OR $125 (total) for Freshmen and Anyone who needs shoes
$580 in Total for Guard (Most paid only the $300 in May) Guard does not pay the other fees.
Please contact me if you have questions about fees or need to work out a payment plan. We work with families on these as much as possible but need to get them in so we may order supplies for the marching season. We ONLY accept checks or money orders in the band halls. Please do not send cash!
