Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 8/7/2023
Last week the high school band began setting drill for our show and made some great progress! We’re hoping to continue building on that through the week leading up to our ‘Meet the Band’ performance next Wednesday, August 16th at 8 pm.
This week for the HS Bands we will be making our final schedule shift leading into school starting next week. We will meet for music rehearsal inside from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm, and outdoor marching rehearsal from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. We are going to try the 4:30 pm on Monday and see who is available with other practices happening. Students on athletic teams should be going to their team practices as scheduled, we ask that they please then come to our evening practice at 6:30 as soon as they are able to!
Last week we asked for Fall Band Fees to be turned in. Please help us get those in this week! For returning HS Band members who have shoes that still fit and are in good condition, that fee is $75. For Freshmen/students who need new shoes that fee is $115 this year. The fees cover band shirts/shorts/water jugs/flip folders/lyres and a few other small things. We need at least the $75 coming in this week so we can get everything ordered. Please send a check or money order made out to OEISD as soon as possible. If there is a financial issue, we can work on a payment plan. Please reach out to us if that is an issue! We never want finances to be a reason that students do not do band!
Please remember that students need to have a large water jug (half-gallon size or bigger) especially for our evening rehearsals. We will have new water jugs for students, but they won’t be in for about another week.
Finally, on Saturday starting at 6:30 pm we are going to have a watch party for the DCI World Championship Finals. The event will last until about 10:30 pm, and students are welcome to go home early. This is an optional event, but I know that many students will enjoy watching the best of Drum Corps battle it out for the championship! Students will want to bring a lawn chair or other picnic like blanket setup to watch comfortably. I’ll give students more information this week about this event!
