Odem Bands Schedule: Week of 8/1/2016
We started off with a great week last week with The Spirit of OHS! Our fundraiser Friday night raised $845 so far. If you were waiting for the official tally to collect pledges that was 4.33 miles and 8,503 steps. We would like all remaining monies turned in Tuesday evening before or after the Booster meeting. www.odembands.org
Next I would like to officially welcome Mrs. Tammy Rakowitz to The Spirit of OHS Band Staff. Mrs. Rakowitz is going to be our Colorguard Instructor in addition to teaching General Music at Odem Elementary! We wish her a warm welcome and look forward to a bright future with her in our district!
This week is one of the most important weeks of our season as we begin setting drill. Please make sure that your students are present at each of the evenings rehearsals. We understand that they may be coming from two-a-days, but they shouldn’t conflict with our schedule. That schedule for this week is:
Monday-Thursday:
4pm-6:00pm – Inside Music
6:30pm-8:30pm – Outside Marching
This week we need the $35 for band shirts/supplies turned in by Thursday. That money is paid by check or money order to OEISD, Memo Band Fee 1. For any freshman or older students who need marching shoes there is an additional $40 due by the 17th. You may pay the full $75 at once if you wish. If this is an issue for you to afford please contact me and I will work with you to the best of my ability. It’s imperative fees are paid on time so we may be prepared to start the season.
All Guard members final payment of $145 is due on August 11th so we may order warm-ups, bags, and shoes. Ladies also need to order a petticoat from JJsHouse.com for their uniform. If you have issues ordering it online please let me know. Here is a link to that item http://tinyurl.com/ztof4ts. There may be additional items needed for the uniforms – please ask your daughters if this affects them.
The season will be a busy one, but a few dates to keep in mind as you plan your calendars:
Wednesday, August 17th: Meet the Band Night – 7:30pm Owl Stadium
Thursday, August 25th: First Football Game, Odem vs. Taft at Taft
Friday, September 2nd: Odem vs. Mathis at Home, Covered by Fox Sports Southwest (We need at least 24 volunteers for the concession stands this evening!)
Saturday, October 1st: USBands New Braunfels Marching Showcase
Saturday, October 8th: Marching Clinic at Band Hall/Owl Stadium, 3pm-6pm
Saturday, October 15th: Robstown Crossroads Marching Contest
Saturday, October 22nd: UIL Region Marching Contest – Sinton
Friday, November 4th: Bands of America Super-Regional Contest at AlamoDome
Saturday, November 5th: BOA Super-Regional Awards/Finals
As you can see we have a busy season ahead of us! I look forward to seeing what these students do with our show this upcoming year!
