Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/11/2023
Welcome to homecoming week! This will be a very busy week for us with the Odem Bands as we have Homecoming events through the week and HS All-Region Jazz Auditions on Saturday for our students who are signed up. Then next week is the 2nd Annual Owl Marching Invitational!
For homecoming events we start on Thursday with the Parade at 7:30pm and the Burning of the ‘O’ to follow. For the parade and burning of the O students are encouraged to bring glowsticks to wear, lights, etc. They do need to make sure nothing is taped or attached in a way to their instruments that will damage them. (And have to have it off after that night!) The Burning of the ‘O’ should begin about 8pm. Students will need to be at the Band Hall by 6pm that night so we can do a quick rehearsal and prepare. Friday there is a Pep Rally at 12:15pm and students will need to be at the Band Hall by 5:15pm this week so we can get to the stadium before homecoming court announcements.
As I said above, the 2nd Annual Owl Marching Invitational is next week!!!! We have a Sign-Up Genius link below in the information (https://tinyurl.com/5n7w2bn5) . We very much need every student and a parent/volunteer for them to help with this large event! Please help us make sure EVERY slot is filled!
Finally, please make certain your student is at each rehearsal/game/contest in the coming weeks. We know it’s a busy time, but it is imperative to the success of the band we do not have missing students. Please remember each of those practices/performances are graded events!
Owl Marching Invitational:
This important day coming up on Saturday, September 23rd (next weekend)! Last year we began hosting the Owl Marching Invitational in Odem. This was a VERY successful fundraising opportunity for us, and we hope it continues to grow through the years. We currently have sixteen bands signed up, and will need volunteers from just before noon until about 11:30pm when we conclude the contest/clean-up. With over 1,200 participants coming for this event, we need every student to have at least one volunteer from their family to help out! Please mark this day on your calendar! We view this as a long-term fundraiser that can help support our students for many years to come!
