Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9-2-2024
Game 1 is done with a big win for the Owls to start the season and a great showing from the marching band for the first game of the year! We hope those successes continue for everyone through the year! For that to happen, we need students to ensure they are at rehearsals in the evenings. As a reminder for HS Band students, we have rehearsals on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 and Wednesdays from 4-5:30. We DO have rehearsal tomorrow night (Monday) even though it’s a school holiday. We will show last weeks’ film at 6 pm in the Cafetorium for students to see where we’re at if they get there early. Please note: Rehearsals are graded! The only allowed excuses are for other team practices, games, or other school district-sponsored competitions. Other excuses are approved or not per the Band Handbook guidelines for illnesses, deaths in the family, etc.
September will fly by, and we’ll need all students to have a parent or adult volunteer to help with the Owl Marching Invitational on September 28th and the UIL Area 2A Marching Contest on November 2nd. Please help us make plans for those! We now have our Sign-Up Genius live for people to sign up for a spot to help! https://tinyurl.com/3vmmu8wz For our invitational, 14 bands have signed up, so we will need every bit of help we can get that day! I anticipate the 2A Area contest will be about the same number of bands as last year, meaning a prelims and finals round is likely.
Ms. Bates emailed all parents regarding an assigned schedule for an evening at the concession stand this past week. Please come help on that day or find a replacement. It is imperative for all of the student’s successes that we have plenty of help at the concession stand to move lines along quickly. Fees for both high school and 7th/8th Grade JH Band students are currently past due. See the section below for more information on those. If they haven’t been turned in, please get in touch with us so we know when to expect them. We’ll work with financial difficulties, and we can work to figure out a payment plan in those instances. We need to bring in the missing fees as soon as possible to order all the supplies for the students!
We will have some extra show shirts for sale if you are interested. We’re still going through our sizes and making sure we have students covered. Keep an eye out for an email soon about those!

Fall Band Fees:
JH Band
7th/8th Grade Band Students – $30
HS Band
Please Note: HS Band Members who still owe fees have been given statements about them; please help us get those turned in as soon as possible. We have about $2,600 still outstanding from these fees!
$80 for All Returning Marchers Except Guard who don’t need shoes.
OR $125 (total) for Freshmen and Anyone who needs shoes
$580 in Total for Guard (Most paid only the $300 in May) Guard does not pay the other fees.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions about fees or need to work out a payment plan. We work with families on these as much as possible but need to get them in so we may order supplies for the marching season. We ONLY accept checks or money orders in the band halls. Please do not send cash!
