Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/23/2024
This is a big week for us, as we are hosting our 3rd Annual Owl Marching Invitational on Saturday and officially start ‘Bandtober!’ This has become a major fundraiser for our program, but it does require an army of volunteers to make it run smoothly. For this to continue to be a success, we need every student to have at least one adult volunteer to work on their behalf. Please make sure you have signed up here: https://tinyurl.com/3vmmu8wz

Volunteers will be needed for a meeting at 2 pm. We’ll have a late lunch/early dinner available at 2:45 pm before continuing to set up and prepare for the bands to arrive. While we have not scheduled them to arrive until 4:30 pm, experience tells us we’ll likely see them beginning around 3:15-3:45. The first band performs at 6 pm, and we will conclude the contest with an exhibition performance at 10:15 pm. We know we will also need a ton of parent help to get the band on the field at that time, as we do not anticipate having the junior high helpers we traditionally have at football games. If you can help, please come to the gate at 10 pm. This week, we plan on adding our final prop to the field, but it will need at least a few parents/helpers and the front ensemble equipment we’ll need a hand with. Admission for spectators is $7 for anyone age five and up. Cash and credit cards (convenience fee applies) will be accepted at the gate.
The end of this week will be the end of the six weeks. Students do not have school on Monday, but we will have a rehearsal! Please remember that Monday is our major rehearsal night of the week, with no conflicts for attendance. We must have every student there then! We are down to our final five weeks leading to the Area Marching Contest, and every moment counts. Please also check in with your student’s grades this week, as eligibility is necessary for our students to continue their season!
Finally, we have some extra show shirts for sale if you are interested. We have a selection of most sizes available for $30 for S-XL, $32 for XXL, and $34 for XXXL. Please get in touch with me if you want to verify that we have one in the size you are seeking. Checks or Money Orders only to OEISD.
