Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/25/2022
Thank you!!! That is definitely how we need to start this email! Thank you to our Band Parents, Community Members, Alumni, and Students who worked so diligently to make the 1st Annual Owl Marching Invitational a success! We had so many kind words from directors, judges, and others who were in attendance this week about our community and event! I know we are all exhausted, but I believe this is one of the best fundraising efforts we have ever undertaken for the bands. We will have a full total of funds raised at the next booster meeting!
Also, I want to make sure we mention we will be hosting the 2A Area E contest on October 29th. This will be a much shorter/smaller contest than what we hosted this weekend, but we do need the same level of parent/volunteer/student support. Please stay tuned for a sign-up for volunteers here in another week for that event.
This week we will be attending our first contest as participants on Saturday in Goliad. USBands hosts this contest and gives us a great opportunity with an on-field clinic with the judges after the awards are given. There is a pretty large gap of time, so we will take the students to Victoria for a meal and to the mall for an hour or so before we return to participate in the clinic. Students are required to stay until we complete the clinic. If any parents wish to pick up students then, please remember we must receive a form a day in advance.
Tickets for Saturday’s contest are only available online here: https://www.showpass.com/22-goliadshowcase/ The tickets go up in price the day of the event, so if you plan to attend I highly encourage purchasing them at least a day in advance.
Friday we will be traveling to Santa Rosa for the game. Due to the length of the drive we will be having an early dismissal for school. Students should report to the band hall after school so we can depart. We will eat dinner enroute to the game for this game.
We are officially in ‘Bandtober’ now, so students will stay very busy. Please help us make sure that students are at all rehearsals, games, and contests these next six weeks!
