Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/30/2019
We would like to begin this week by congratulating the students who are members of The Spirit of OHS Percussion sections for winning the Percussion Caption at this week’s Beeville Marching Festival! The band overall earned 4th Place out of the 20 bands, 2nd Place Drum Majors, and 3rd Place Guard. We will continue over the coming weeks to refine the show and push ahead towards the Area contest, where our goal is to return to the UIL State Marching Band Contest!
Students this week do have rehearsal on Monday! We will show judges comments/video at 5:30pm in the Cafetorium if students wish to come early and see them. We will show the whole of their performance at 6:15pm before we begin rehearsal at 6:30pm-8:30pm. We need to have all students present for that rehearsal so we can make some significant adjustments to drill and prepare for our contest in Jourdanton this weekend.
There is no game on Friday this week, but we will have a short practice from 4pm-5pm after school. Saturday students will need to be at the Band Hall at 7am for the walkthrough and to load. We will be feeding the students in Pleasanton on the way up, and then providing a dinner meal deal through the Jourdanton boosters for dinner. We perform at 3:30pm, and then have a clinic with the judges on the field at 7pm. This has traditionally been a fantastic way for students to hear feedback directly from them and us to bounce off ideas and suggestions with them. If parents wish to pick up students from the contest it must be after that clinic. We should be home around 10:30pm that evening.
The following Saturday, October 12th, we will be having a guest clinician in for our annual clinic from 3pm-6pm. We will rehearsal with Mrs. Coral Charles who was the director at Lulling ISD for many years. She took the Lulling Band to State Marching Contest at least four times in the past ten years, so we look forward to her insights and help to prepare for the rest of our season! The clinic is a mandatory and graded event!
Thank you to everyone who came and attended the contest Saturday. We could hear our supporters and appreciated each that came!
USBands Jourdanton Contest:
Saturday’s USBands Contest in Jourdanton is going to be $13 at the gate for spectators. We need about ten more parents to help out with getting front ensemble equipment out to the field and to help with props. If you are available please arrive by 1:30pm to help at the trailer/truck. Mr. Williams will let you know what he needs assistance with then.

UIL Region Marching Contest:
This week we received our tentative information for the October 19th UIL Region Marching Contest in Sinton. We are currently scheduled to perform at 10:15am that day. We will have a more detailed schedule for this event soon, but we want to start making parents/students aware that we will need students at the Band Hall by 6am that morning.
