This week with the Labor Day holiday makes for a shorter week, but just as a reminder we do rehearse with the HS Band from 6:30pm-8:30pm tomorrow night! We will show the film from Friday at 6pm, and there will be a Leadership Team meeting at 5:45pm.

Last week we met with parents about the upcoming June trip to Cleveland. As a reminder we can still add students, but we are coming down to the wire on that now. As of the Thursday meeting I did have some additional information on the final anticipated cost. Bob Rogers (our travel company) was able to put in numbers and the cost is down to $1,810 per person. We may have a few small costs that still have to be added on our end, but that should be pretty firm at this time. (Might decrease if we can get a cheaper flight in December) Bob Rogers is supposed to be sending an email out to participants by Tuesday about changes in the payment plan. 

Our JH Beginning Band Members need to have their instruments by this time. We anticipate starting them on instruments Tuesday – please help us ensure their success by having an instrument for them, or contacting us to use a school instrument as needed/appropriate! 

JH Concert Band and Symphonic Winds members need to have their $25 band fees turned in this week. They will have their first Pep Rally this Thursday.

This week the HS Band travels to Mathis for our away game, students will need to be at the high school by 4:45pm so we can prepare for departure. Depending on heat indices we plan to wear uniforms this week without hats. We are always mindful of their safety though, so if it is still too warm we will continue with shirts/shorts. 

Finally we have the Owl Marching Invitational coming up very soon!!!! I have a Sign-Up Genius link below in the information (https://tinyurl.com/5n7w2bn5) . We very much need every student and a parent/volunteer for them to help with this large event! 

Owl Marching Invitational:

We want to make sure we have this on everyone’s radar as an important day coming up on Saturday, September 23rd! Last year we began hosting the Owl Marching Invitational in Odem. This was a VERY successful fundraising opportunity for us, and we hope it continues to grow through the years. We currently have fifteen bands signed up, and will need volunteers from just before noon until about 11:30pm when we conclude the contest/clean-up.

With over 1,000 participants coming for this event, we need every student to have at least one volunteer from their family to help out! Please mark this day on your calendar! We view this as a long-term fundraiser that can help support our students for many years to come!
