Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/5/2022
Wow, how are we already in September? It seems like it was just the end of July and summer band was beginning with the HS band! These next couple of months are going to ramp up with events for all levels pretty quickly, so please keep an eye on the calendar dates. Remember all rehearsals, games, contests, pep rallies, etc. are mandatory graded events! We do have rehearsal tomorrow evening even with there being a school holiday. Please help us ensure students are there as it’s a short week of rehearsals with a Thursday game!
For our first competition we’ll be hosting that one here in Odem on September 24th. We need at least one volunteer from each family to help work the contest in order to make it successful! Our students will be performing in exhibition at both the end of the Prelims and the Finals of the competition so that we can get some feedback from the judges too. That means they’ll be unavailable to help for about an hour on each side. Please note that all students must be in attendance throughout the contest to help and perform.
As of right now we have 16 Bands, plus our own, who will be performing that day in a Prelims/Finals contest. That essentially means we’ll have 30 performances! We are expecting 1300+ student participants at this event, and hope that this can become a fundraiser that is the crown jewel for the bands in the coming years. It is not uncommon for events like this to raise tens of thousands of dollars, and we hope this will benefit our students in many ways!

We plan to have a meeting at 10:00am on Saturday the 24th in the HS Cafetorium to quickly go over the contest flow, rules, and what to expect as a volunteer. Our first band should be arriving some time at 11am into the lot, and finals/awards will end with people leaving by about 11:30pm. It is going to be a long day, but offers us a great opportunity to raise funds for the band program!
Fall Fees
Our fall fees for marching band should have been paid at this time ($50 everyone, $40 more for freshmen and anyone who needs shoes). JH Band Fees are also past due at this point of $25.
Guard members should have paid a total of $400 by the date they tried out. The final fee for them is $100 as long as they were paid in full. (Full 2023 fee is $500 between the two payments) They do not pay the regular band fall fee.
Please ensure these payments are turned in as we need them to be able to order students shirts, shoes, and other materials for the fall.
Payments need to be made in CHECK or MONEY ORDER only please to OEISD Memo: Band. We do not accept cash for these items.
