Odem Bands Schedule: Week of 9/12/2016 – Homecoming Week

This week marks Homecoming Week for Odem High School! As such it will be a very busy week that we have in front of us, so please stay tuned to our schedule.  We once again ask for volunteers to please help out with the concession stands this week. We anticipate that this week will be very busy for both of them! We are looking for a trailer to pull the band students on for the parade. If you have access to one, or know someone who does, please contact me.

Additionally this weekend we have 17 students auditioning at the Region Jazz Auditions. Please see the information about that even below as well.

The Burning of the ‘O’ will be held on Thursday night at 8pm. We will have practice for The Spirit of OHS that evening from 6pm-7:30pm when we will give the students a break and head over to the event. Currently it is still supposed to be held at the same parking lot by the Tennis Courts that it has always been held at. Due to that being the parking lot now for many high school students, there is a small possibility it may be relocated. Please stay tuned to the districts webpage and Facebook pages for any updates on the event.

Our annual Homecoming Parade/Pep Rally will take place on Friday. Based on past years times I believe the parade will begin at 2:30pm. Again we are looking for a trailer to pull the band on.

Students will need to be at the Band Hall by 5:30pm. Homecoming festivities will be hosted before the game as is traditional. We are very proud to have 5 members of the band on the homecoming court! We wish them the best of luck on their nominations!

Students need to be at the Band Hall by 7:00am so we may leave by 7:10am. The contest is being held this year at HM King High School in Kingsville. We anticipate the contest will finish around 3pm. Students should bring some money for snacks that I believe Kingsville’s Band Boosters will be selling snacks/food during the contest. We will most likely make a quick stop at a fast food restaurant on the way back. Students will need to bring money for both stops, if this is an issue please let me know.

                 ~4:00pm Return from Kingsville

This week we also received our preliminary performance times for our first Marching Contest that will be held at New Braunfels HS on October 1st. We have been given a performance time of 12:15pm. Students will most likely need to be at the Band Hall at 7am to do our walkthrough and load the trailers. We really need about 10 parents to travel with us and help with moving equipment that day. The awards are scheduled to be at 3:45pm. I will pass on more details the week of the event. Please remember that we have contests October 1st, October 8th is a mandatory clinic 3pm-6pm, October 15th Contest (Robstown), Region Marching Contest October 22nd (Sinton – mid/late afternoon), and the BOA Super-Regional at the AlamoDome November 4th.
