Odem Bands – Week of 2/10/2020
We would like to begin this weeks post by congratulating the 10 Soloists for Odem JH, the 8 Soloists for Odem HS, and the 17 Members of Ensembles at Odem HS for earning Superior Ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble this past week! We have 17 students advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest in at least one event! Please see the Solo and Ensemble Recap Below for more details!
On Tuesday we are having a very important meeting for parents of OHS and OJH Band members at 7pm in the Odem HS Cafetorium. We are preparing to do a fundraiser on March 7th for the bands, and the company wants to make sure we have all of the tools we need to be successful. To that end they are donating $5 to us for every parent that comes to that meeting! It’ll be a short 30 minute meeting for their part, and then we will move into the short business needed for the Band Boosters. Please make plans to attend! If we get one parent for every student that is $1,000 raised for the bands, upwards of $2500 if we get more than one per student! Please come and help us raise these needed funds!
The Odem Junior High Band fundraiser should be turned in no later than tomorrow (Monday). Thank you to all of those who have helped support the OJH Fundraiser. Items may still be ordered online from this link: https://tinyurl.com/sydosgw This online store stays open all year, please share this with friends and families!
Our last event going on this week is the 2020 All-State Concert that will feature our All-State Trombonist Ethan Sanchez! He will travel up to San Antonio on Wednesday for the final State Round of auditions, rehearse for the next couple days, and then perform at the All-State Concert on Saturday at 9am in the Lila Cochrell Auditorium at the San Antonio Convention Center. Admission is Free if anyone wishes to attend! (Paid Parking can be found at the RiverCenter Mall or around that area)
UIL Region Solo and Ensemble Recap:
Thursday students from Odem Junior High and Odem High School traveled to the UIL Region 14 Solo and Ensemble Contest, at Seale JH in Robstown. Odem JH had a school record ten soloist medals earned! Two of our students also advanced with both an ensemble and a solo! This was one of our most successful days at Solo and Ensemble with our students, and we would like to share the names of those students who earned Superior Ratings! Next to their name is a listing of the classification of their solo or ensemble. Class 3 is the easiest and Class 1 is the most difficult.

We have once again setup online ticket orders – you can order tickets here at http://odemhsband.ludus.com. There you can pick your seats out and pay easily. We will provide ticket order forms to students in March, or you may also visit the band hall to purchase them. Please help us sell this event out! (Tickets should be paid for via check/money order made out to Owl Band Boosters if paid for at band hall) Tickets are $15 for the longer outside tables, $20 for the middle circular tables, or $25 for the Back tables with chairs. (If you would like the $25 seats I recommend ordering online soon as there are only 14 more!)
Dinner is going to be Fried Fish or Chicken with sides and dessert provided.
We will need basket items for the silent auction that will be held at Windi and Jazzi. The Boosters are also seeking donations of restaurant gift cards and other items to also include and bundle in the silent auction.
