Summer Events Begin Next Week!
I hope this message finds you well and rested! Over the next few weeks we will begin ramping up our Summer Band rehearsals to get rolling on the 2023 Marching Season!
Next week we will have two parts of that preparation. First, on Monday/Tuesday we have Leadership and a few other students attending an incredible clinic put on by Marching Health, hosted by Corpus Christi ISD. Those students should have received links with a form that needs completed. We will have some printed off on Monday morning as well. Students need to be at the Band Hall by 6 am Monday and Tuesday, and need to bring some money for lunch on their own on Monday. Tuesday we will be home by lunch. The sessions are scheduled to run from 7am-4pm, and students should bring a hat, beach towel or yoga mat, water jug, writing utensil/note pad. Comfortable shorts/band shirts, and tennis shoes will be needed. This clinic is featuring Dr. Elliot Cleveland who is the leader in marching band health/workouts nationwide. He is joined by Michael Rosales, who is a renowned choreographer for drum corps and high level marching bands, and another clinician who specializes in the performance psychology. Continuing next week on Wednesday through Friday will be the Percussion Camps for our Front Ensemble and Drumline. Students need to be at the school at 9am, and we will work until noon, break for lunch, then return from 1pm-4pm. It is imperative that we have all of our percussion members there for this three day intense session!
The following week on the 17th-19th we will have Leadership Training/Color Guard Camp days. Tentatively those are 9am-4pm on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday will be 9am-3:00pm. I’m still confirming those times.
Then everyone returns the following Monday on July 24th! We are excited about the show for this year, and with every student putting in their full effort we know we will have a successful season! Please help us ensure students are at their required rehearsals. Students who are not present may be placed as alternates instead of given spots on the field. It’s imperative for our success that students are present to ‘Be There, Work Hard!’
